They are small, bright red and currently in high demand: Goji berries are not only eye-catching, they also have some special powers in them, because they contain large amounts of minerals and vitamins and can thus contribute significantly to a healthy diet. Originally the brick-red fruit comes from China and Mongolia. There she is an indispensable part of the local kitchen and is not only suitable for processing but also for raw consumption.
The goji berry is like the potato or tomato part of the nightshade family. It is often referred to as wolfberry or wild berry. It is hardy and is therefore already being planted in Europe. The deciduous plant grows two to four meters tall. The rich red or orange-yellow fruits ripen from August to October.
But why is this egg-shaped fruit so popular in our climes? This is probably not only because of their taste, but above all their inner values. They contain an extraordinary amount of nutrients and vital substances, especially vitamins A, C, and E. In addition, they are rich in unique phytonutrients and antioxidants, which form an important basis for healthy eyes and a healthy nervous system.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the goji berry has therefore been used for thousands of years to relieve a variety of ailments and preventative care. You can enjoy them as dried berries, in powder form or as pressed juice. They often find their way into cereals, teas or jams. When dried, they are said to be effective against high blood pressure, chronic inflammation and eye problems. In addition, they can make an important contribution to detoxifying the body and strengthening the immune system.
The red berry is also used in our Ashéra tea blend „Jewel of Vivid Eyesight“. In combination with chrysanthemum flowers and liquorice root, it nourishes and clears the eyes and strengthens the eyesight in irritated and dry eyes.
